Core takeaway: One serving (4 softgels) has 2,659 mg EPA and 532 mg DHA, a 5:1 ratio. EPA makes up about 50% of the fish oil, against 18% in a standard 18/12 oil. At $42.00 for 30 servings (120 softgels) it works out to about $0.53 per 1,000 mg of EPA, about half the cost of the NutraSea liquid ($1.06) and about a third of the cost of Nordic Naturals ProOmega ($1.57).

Other ingredients on the label: softgel shell (gelatin, glycerin, purified water), green tea leaf extract, rosemary leaf extract and mixed tocopherol concentrate. The label states it contains fish (anchovy). The listing title calls it a 5X Ultimate Strength oil with high EPA and DHA, vitamin D and no fishy aftertaste; those are the brand’s claims on the listing.

The label math

  1. EPA per softgel: 2,659 ÷ 4 = 665 mg (664.75).
  2. EPA density: 2,659 ÷ 5,318 = 50% of the fish oil is EPA.
  3. EPA to DHA ratio: 2,659 ÷ 532 = 5:1 (5.0).
  4. EPA + DHA per serving: 2,659 + 532 = 3,191 mg.
  5. Softgels for 1,000 mg of EPA: 4 ÷ 2.659 = about 1.5 softgels.
  6. Cost per 1,000 mg of EPA: $42.00 ÷ (30 × 2.659) = $0.53. Cost per serving is $1.40, or $0.35 per softgel.
Cost per 1,000 mg EPA = $42.00 ÷ (30 servings × 2,659 mg ÷ 1,000)

How it compares

Green = best in that row. All prices are from Amazon.com listings checked October 12, 2026. NutraSea is the 200 mL bottle (40 servings of 1 tsp), listed by a third-party seller. Prices change often, so check the current listing before you buy.

The AquaOmega softgel has the highest EPA per serving and the highest ratio of the three, and it costs the least per milligram of EPA. The NutraSea liquid costs about twice as much per milligram of EPA and needs a spoon, and ProOmega costs about three times as much. Cost per 1,000 mg is only one input: oil form, freshness and testing matter too.

Who it suits, and what to watch

In its favor

  • 2,659 mg EPA per serving at a 5:1 ratio
  • About 50% EPA density, versus 18% in a standard oil
  • Lowest cost per 1,000 mg EPA of the three compared
  • Includes 800 IU of vitamin D

Worth knowing

  • 4 softgels a day is a lot of pills for some people
  • Gelatin shell, so it is not vegan (see the vegan omega-3 guide)
  • The vitamin D adds to anything else you take

Dose and safety

One serving gives 3,191 mg of EPA + DHA. Two servings would be about 6,382 mg, which is above the 5 g/day of EPA and DHA combined that the FDA has concluded is safe for supplements used as recommended. The FDA has said it cannot determine safety above that amount. The NIH also reports that two large trials using 4 g/day of omega-3 supplements for several years slightly increased the risk of atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) in people with or at high risk of heart disease. Count everything you take, including other fish oil and fatty fish. If you take blood thinners, have a heart rhythm condition, or are considering a high dose, talk to your doctor first.

For general dose ranges, see the omega-3 dosage guide. To see how third-party test reports are read, the IFOS report steps are covered in the Nordic Naturals vs Carlson comparison.

Verdict

If you want a high-EPA oil and value cost per milligram of EPA, the AquaOmega 5X Ultimate Strength softgel is the best value of the three products compared here at these prices: 2,659 mg EPA per serving at about 5:1 for about $0.53 per 1,000 mg. The trade-offs are four softgels a day and a gelatin shell. If you want a plant-based or lower-dose option, look elsewhere.
